learning

Oh, sometimes I realized we have enabled Kaeden. He is our first born, so we tend to not grasp when he should be able to do things on his own and insist on him doing those things himself. He was hungry the other morning and wanted an eggo waffle. I told him to go ahead and put one in himself. He kind of freaked and I told him I would walk him through the steps. We have a toaster oven, so it's a little more dangerous than just sticking it in the toaster and pushing down the lever. Kaeden put the waffle in, turned the dial and then just stood there watching until the ding. It was funny because I told him he could just come and get it when the timer went off, but he preferred watching...

beyond his years

My son just cracks me up sometimes. He has a great sense of humor and get things, for the most part. I was just laying down with him before he fell asleep and he told me that I was his best valentines present and the best he will ever have. I told him he will have really nice valentines when he has a wife. I then proceeded to tell him that he is to love his wife as Jesus loves the Church. He looked at me weird and said what do you mean? I kind of condensed it by saying that Jesus loves us unconditionally and that is what he is to do for his future wife. He responded by saying, "I am just going to stay single!" This just cracked me up.

Wrestling with Dad

Who says girls don't wrestle? My girls were enjoying wrestling with their daddy tonight. I remember when my sister and I would wrestle each other and my dad. It was so much fun!

I'm Forgiven

I went to Kelly's Korner and read the cardboard testimonies last night. It made me think of all things that I have done in my past and what I have in Christ now. The Holy Spirit put this song in my heart this morning and to tears. I am so thankful that I am forgiven! Have a wonderful Wednesday!

did someone say, "medicine"

I am not sure how some of you do it. I read blogs of children who have to take 28 doses of medicine a day and I am trying to get 1 child to take 2 teaspoons of Tylenol and the above picture is what I get.

It's going to be a ...

A blanket!

I went to work today and Shawn stayed home with Kendyl because of her nasty cold/cough thing she has. Apparently, Kennadi didn't feel well at school and the nurse called and Shawn picked her up. Shawn was very thoughtful and took these pictures for me while I was at work and told me he has some blog material for me. It's hilarious, Kenna just decided to be pregnant with a blanket. Shawn told me she came up with the idea of taping her shirt down, so she used tape and taped the sides of her shirt down so you couldn't see her belly/blanket. She is definitely creative!

Quality Time

There is not a picture for this post.

I do not do a very good job of spending quality time with each child individually like I should. As a family we play board games, dance to music, do activities together, but not much with each child. I get a lot of quality time with Kendyl because she is the baby and I don't work on Mondays and Fridays, so we get that time. Kennadi and Kaeden on the other hand kind of get shafted. But, tonight was a special for me, even though it was just simple. The girls were sick tonight and Shawn stayed home with them instead of going to church. I got to bring Kaeden to church with me tonight. It was just me and him in the car, 15 minutes both ways. It was GREAT! It sounds simple and rather boring for quality time, but car conversations can be thought provoking and questions can be asked more easily. Kaeden sat right behind my seat, he usually sits in the back and we just chatted all the way to and from church. He told me if he has a lot of money when he gets older from playing in the NFL that he was going to give money to people that don't have a house so they can have a house. I asked him if he couldn't be an NFL player what would he do? ---- become a professional soccer player. Okay, but what if you didn't play a sport, what job would you choose? Kaeden responded by saying, "hmm... that's a good question.... Well, I guess I would be a builder. I like to build things and then I can just build the houses for people who don't have one."

On the way home we talked about school, his friends, his Birthday coming up in May (never too early to discuss the party), the fact that I am 22 years older than him and he thinks that I am the youngest of my friends (thank you Kaeden!).

Conclusion:
It was really nice. I need to figure out things that I can do with each of my kids and do it on a more regular basis. It does my heart good and it probably does their heart good too!
